There may not be as many people as originally planned around your Christmas table this year but don’t let that deter you from laying out the festive magic. If there was ever a year to really celebrate getting together to eat and be merry, it’s this year.
For some seasonal inspiration, we asked a few Papier pals to show us how they would dress their Christmas tables with the starting point of a Papier festive menu. It’s a trio of tablescapes sure to spark joy.

This family friendly Christmas table is one of our favourites. It's relaxed yet elegant, pared down, a little preppy and totally unfussy. The chocolate gingham feels super cosy and makes us feel right at home. Our vegetable cutlery rests add a whimsical touch to the farm-to-table vibe that we are going for with this one. The green of Papier's Winter Wreath collection fits perfectly with the gingham and the outdoorsy feel of the table.

The process of curating a tablescape, from linen, right through to flowers is magical to me. For this, I’ve gravitated towards a full design that mimics a garden erupting from the table. I was drawn to the dusky palette shown in the designs, Christmas Snow Berries and Irene. I firmly believe Christmas is so much more than red and green.
I created a foliage base using Douglas fir, grevillea and eucalyptus. I gave these elements a makeover by spraying assorted stems turquoise, blue and white. I also used viburnum berries, eucalyptus pods for some drama and dried static for a snow-like feel. The focal flowers are beautiful avalanche and multi-headed spray roses. Scent mustn’t be forgotten, so I added British paperwhite narcissuses, the perfect filler which have an incredible fragrance.
You can recreate something similar using foraged greenery and adding in readily available roses. If you don’t have a rectangular vessel like the one used, group lots of jars or stem vases together for the same full look.

I wanted to curate something fun and vibrant with the Hoste menu, as I'm pretty sure we’ve all been using our dining tables for work and I think it's important to create a space to relax and eat in that feels different from the 9-5.
Usually, I’d go for the traditional festive setup but after the year we’ve all had, I thought I’d have one final bold moment – setting the scene with a bright zebra print table cloth that will definitely brighten up any room! I added a salmon pink swirl plate for some more pinky tones. The different shades of pink from the tablecloth, plates and menus work really well together.
Taper candles automatically add height to your table. These hand-dipped taper candles are made with bees’ and soy wax which naturally and beautifully runs down the side of the taper, creating some much-desired theatre to any table. For florals, I’m obsessed with dried flowers. You can use them again and again so it makes sense economically and environmentally.
